- Assess what you want to take back with you.The chances are, a box that has been unopened since your arrival, is full of unwanted items.Clear out and sell off unwanted bits and pieces, it is amazing what you consider junk, others consider a treasure.This will help boost your moving fund.
- Get quotes for container removals, overland (if possible), seafreight, or air-cargo.Ask around if anyone has a part-container available.Find out if they insure even if you have packed.It might be cheaper if you part-pack yourself.Some companies will supply the container, and leave you to load/unload, and deal with customs.This can often save a fortune but is hard work, ensure you have the help of good friends and family.

- Don't just pack shoes, pack them with things inside, such as small ornaments wrapped in socks.
- Empty plastic food cartons can become sturdy storage pots for fragile items.Cut soda bottles in half, and use two sizes, small and large.Use the bottom of the small ones to store wrapped items, and cover, then seal with tape.This makes waterproof, and sturdy containers.
- Leave your address with two people who can be trusted to send your post to you.This helps cut out the cost of paying for mail redirection.If one becomes unavailable, you have the other to call upon.
